Learn Fort Walla Walla History

The Fort Walla Walla Museum comprises 15 acres within Fort Walla Walla Park. In total, it features four exhibit halls, a 17-building pioneer village, and a two-story administrative building which houses their storage and research libraries. The exhibit halls feature displays which give you a glimpse into a snapshot of Walla Walla’s history. These range from the legacy of agriculture in the area to Native American artifacts. No matter your interest, you’ll be able to find an exhibit to capture your attention.
The museum is open every day of the week. From the beginning of March to the end of October, it’s open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For the rest of the year (November to the end of February), it’s open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is just $8 for adults and $7 for seniors.

Take a Tour of the Pioneer Village

One of the most popular features at Fort Walla Walla Museum is the Pioneer Village. This 17-building living history exhibit gives an authentic look at what it was like to live in the region during the late 1800s. Many of the homes are original buildings that have been moved from the Walla Walla region, like the Prescott Jail or the Union School, which is one of the best-preserved one-room schoolhouses in the area. You’ll also be able to look around the Ransom Clark Cabin, which belonged to a member of the 1843 Fremont surveying expedition. Get an up-close-and-personal look at the area’s past!
