Everything You Need to Know about the Tumbleweed Music Festival in Richland

When and Where Is the Event

The Tumbleweed Music Festival takes place the first weekend of September at the Howard Amon Park. Surround yourself in the gorgeous scenery located along the banks of the Columbia River.

History of the Tumbleweed Music Festival

The origins of this event can be traced back to the late 1970s when John and Micki Perry moved to the Tri-Cities from the Hudson Valley in New York. The Perrys were disappointed when they didn’t find a similar music scene in Washington and so they decided to introduce the art form to the local community. They were finally able to host their first concert in 1987 with the help of some friends who were intrigued by this style of music. Come join in the fun during this year’s Tumbleweed Music Festival!

Tumbleweed Music Festival Events

The main feature of this festival is the music, of course. There are five stages throughout the park to provide audiences with a variety of tunes. Swing and do-si-do your way through different contra dances. Attend workshops that teach songwriting and dancing. Don’t forget to grab a bite to eat while you browse the many arts and crafts vendors.

About the Three Rivers Folklife Society

The non-profit organization has been providing fun and fellowship to the entire region of Southeast Washington for over twenty years. The many events of the Three Rivers Folklife Society include the signature Tumbleweed Music Festival along with additional concerts, dances, song circles, and picnics.  This is a great way to connect with other local community members and enjoy some beautiful music and dancing.
