Upcoming Events in the Walla Walla Valley
After a winter of dormant vines, fields, and trees, signs of spring in the Walla Walla Valley have been a welcome sight! The energy also picks up across the Walla Walla Valley each spring, as the promise of another exciting vintage of the area’s best wines begins to make itself known.
If you haven’t yet heard the big news, the Walla Walla Valley was named the best wine tasting region in the country for USA Today’s 10 Best Reader’s Choice Awards. It’s truly a well-earned recognition for our local wineries, too. According to Robert Hansen, executive director of the Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance, this award is “a testament to the outstanding terroir, meticulous craftsmanship, and to the men and women who are committed to elevating the Walla Walla Valley from both a wine production and tourism perspective.” There’s truly no better time to come explore the Walla Walla Valley!
Each April, the spring season really gets started with the annual Spring Kick-Off Weekend. This year, it’s slated to take place April 2 – 4 and is a wonderful time to stock up on newly released rosés, whites, and red wines from the Walla Walla Valley, while also shaking off the winter blues that may have taken hold over the past several months. April also happens to be Walla Walla Wine Month, which is a month-long celebration of all things wine in the Walla Walla area.
If you don’t make it for the first Spring Kick-Off Weekend, another opportunity presents itself in early May with the Spring Release Weekend. For 2021, the Spring Release Weekend is planned for May 7-9. The atmosphere in the Walla Walla Valley during this time is truly a celebratory one. Walla Walla wineries are positively abuzz with activity by this point in the year, as they get ready to showcase their latest releases with special events, live music, food and wine pairings, and so much more.
